Review of 21 Square Bar Kitchen
21 Square Bar Kitchen, nestled within the elegant Torrance Marriott at 3635 Fashion Way, provides a calm and welcoming atmosphere for guests seeking a convenient dining option. With a solid rating of 4 stars, this establishment is often described as a comfortable retreat rather than a lavish dining destination.
The ambiance at 21 Square Bar Kitchen is appealingly modern, featuring ample seating both indoors and on an inviting patio. Patrons appreciate the quiet setting, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing meal or a casual drink. However, the feedback about service has been mixed. While some bartenders excel in their promptness and friendliness, others have been noted for a less attentive approach, occasionally leading to slower service during busy hours.
Guests have acknowledged the quality of the food, which varies from satisfying burgers to more adventurous sandwiches. According to customer feedback, items like the Madrona Burger and the portobello poblano sandwich have pleasantly surprised visitors with their flavors and preparation. However, they also noted that not all dishes hit the mark, with a few reviews citing disappointment with options like the BBQ sandwich.
For guests staying at the hotel, 21 Square Bar Kitchen is a practical choice, especially when exploring the local offerings would require extra time and effort. The convenience factor cannot be overstated, particularly for visitors who may not want to venture far after a long day of sightseeing at nearby attractions like the Queen Mary or the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Overall, 21 Square Bar Kitchen serves a purpose well for its primary audience—hotel guests and those seeking a quiet spot to unwind. While it may not be a destination in its own right for local diners, it excels in providing a comfortable and decent dining experience for those who need it. Improved consistency in service and menu offerings could take this establishment from good to great, making it a hidden gem in Torrance.

Place was quite and very cute to say the least. staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. Overall decent experience but wouldn’t recommend unless your actually staying at the hotel.
Nice and quiet is your thing? This would do you fine. Not a fancy dinining place but reasonable food and bar selection. Lots of seats both in and out door situated in the modern themed lobby area and outdoor patio. I was bit disappointed with their coffee service.... Most restaurants I've ate in offers free refill of coffee if you finish your Americano or even a latte. Nope, not here. Hotel = first and last customer mentality? I hope not... Should seek to draw local crowd that will help sustain your business when hotel guests become thin.
First a bit of context, I would not seek out this restaurant if I was not staying in the hotel. That said, it is a good option for those who are staying and it is better than wandering around looking for something else in this part of Torrance. The food and service are fairly good for a hotel based establishment. The food has its ups and downs, for example, I did not care for the bbq sandwich, but the seared tuna is solid. The apps also seem solid. Staff is great and service reflects the price they have in their jobs. Ambiance is very good for a hotel and dining outside at a table or by the fire pit is really nice.
21 Square, the restaurant bar in the Torrance Marriott, has terrific seating indoor and out. The bartenders are mixed: they all pour a generous drink, and some are spot-on friendly and quick. A few, not so much. Those can be snippy and quite slow at providing service, unless you're at a bar seat. A few trips ago, one disappeared on us and the others, including the manager, couldn't figure out what he'd done with our tab. That took way too long to sort out. Takeaway: if you get the right server, you'll have a great time (the food is also good--first rate French fries, salads and ahi tuna sandwiches).
Came to the hotel in a pool pass (no outside food allowed). In other places we've found the hotel food to be edible, but not great. We were pleasantly surprised...the sandwiches were better than we expected. Got the Madrona Burger and the BLAT - both reportedly very nice (with a side comment on the bacon - thicker and crispy edges). I opted for the portobello-poblano sandwich and liked it very much. Sandwiches of a reasonable size and all came with fries. The order took a bit longer than we expected, but wasn't bad. In the to-go-back-to-the-pool bag was utensils and ket/must/mayo.
